Team Lagos have picked tickets to play in the Volleyball and Cricket events at the 2018 edition of the National Sports Festival.
The National Sports Festival holds in Abuja from 6-16 December, 2018.
The tickets were secured by Team Lagos in the ongoing Southwest Zonal Eliminations for the Sports Festival taking place at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan, Oyo state. Lagos qualified to play in the Volleyball female team event and both female and male cricket events.
To qualify for the football event, Lagos girls beat their Ogun State counterparts 2-0 in a match played on Friday. Team Lagos qualified for the festival after winning two matches, while the male football team will play their final match on Saturday for their own qualification.
In the cricket female final match between Lagos and Oyo, on Friday, report from Ibadan says Oyo State won the toss and elected to field, putting Lagos to bat first. Lagos batted and scored 60 runs for the lost of 4 wicket in 15 overs, Oyo State chased and scored 32 runs for the lost of 8 wicket in 15 overs. Lagos won by 27 runs to qualify for Abuja 2018 National Sports Festival.
Meanwhile, the Zonal Eliminations continue on Saturday with participating states expected to win more team sports tickets for the Sports Festival.
In some of the matches decided on Friday, Team Lagos beat Ekiti 10-0 in the para soccer match. The basketball teams of Lagos State were too good for their Ondo State counterparts as they won the male match 70-59 points and 40-31 points in the female Basketball game. Lagos beat Ogun in the female Handball 31-13 points.
