Lagos male football team
As the Southwest Zonal Eliminations for the Abuja 2018 National Sports Festival ended Saturday in Ibadan, Oyo State, Team Lagos have secured more slots to play in the team sports of the Abuja games.
On Friday, Team Lagos qualified to play in the Volleyball (female), Cricket (male and Female) and football (female), but as at the close of the zonal eliminations on Saturday at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Team Lagos won more tickets to play in the team events of the sports festival.
PM EXPRESS can report that Team Lagos will feature in basketball events (male and Female), beach volleyball (female), handball (male) and football (male).
Meanwhile, Team Lagos have protested the scandalous result recorded in the para soccer match between Team Ogun and Team Ekiti on Saturday. Report has it that Ogun beat Ekiti as much as 16 goals to 0, with Lagos alleging match fixing by Ekiti.
Lagos team were before the match waiting for the outcome of Ogun/Ekiti encounter to determine their qualification for the sports festival.
“It’s obvious case of match fixing. Ekiti have sold the match to allow Ogun to qualify on basis of a better goal aggregate than us,” said one official in the Lagos team who craved for anonymity because PM EXPRESS could not get an official reaction on the match before going to press.
The National Sports Festival holds in Abuja from 6-16 December, 2018.
