The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Wednesday received in audience renowned Nollywood actress and humanitarian, Fathia Williams, at his Ikeja House office.

The visit followed earlier discussions and promises on possible areas of collaboration between Ikeja Local Government and the veteran thespian, particularly on her pet project aimed at taking young girls off the streets, empowering them, and steering them away from drug abuse and other social vices.

Actress Fathia Williams noted that her vision aligns strongly with the recent campaigns launched by the Ikeja LG Chairman, Comrade Dauda against gender-based sexual violence, rape, and drug abuse, which were rolled out towards the end of 2025. She expressed her desire to partner with the Local Government to deepen advocacy, rehabilitation, and empowerment efforts targeted at vulnerable young girls within Ikeja.

In her remarks, the actress also disclosed that her forthcoming birthday celebration on 5th February will be partly dedicated to advancing these humanitarian initiatives, with activities planned to further promote girl-child protection, empowerment, and social reorientation.

Responding, the Executive Chairman, Comrade Dauda, commended Actress Fathia Williams for her consistency, passion, and commitment to social development, particularly in the areas of girl-child empowerment and the fight against drug abuse. He reaffirmed the readiness of Ikeja Local Government to partner and collaborate with her in all possible ways to ensure the success and sustainability of the initiative.

The Chairman emphasized that such partnerships with credible stakeholders remain critical to building a safer, healthier, and more inclusive Ikeja, especially for young people and women.

The meeting ended on a positive note, with both parties expressing optimism about translating the shared vision into impactful programmes for the benefit of residents of Ikeja Local Government.
