The Academic Staff of the Adeniran Ogunsanya College Of Education, AOCOED, Ijanikin, Lagos State, has suspended their indefinite strike that had lasted for several weeks.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the strike was embarked on due to what they termed management insensitivity to their plights.
Comrade Ajayi S.I., the Chairman of Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union COEASU, AOCOED Chapter, said that the suspension came on the heels of Gov Ambode’s intervention which laid to rest the agitation for 65 years age retirement limit.
He pointed out that the governor’s approval recently gladdened the hearts of the lecturers and thus the strike had to be called off.
Responding further, Ajayi stated that the Governing Council Chairman of the institution, Prof Tunde Samuel, also assented to the demand for the 53.37% allowances implementation.
Ajayi shared that the entire union is happy, which is why at a special congress, the union reached an agreement to suspend the strike leaving a one month period of grace which ends on the 9th of February, 2019, since the strike was suspended on 9th January, 2019. He further stated that a powerful congress will hold on 11(Mon) February, where all matters will be reviewed.
Ajayi emphasized that the one month window is to enable the union to monitor the development. He eulogised Governor Ambode Akinwunmi for his timely intervention and ended by expressing joy over the success of the strike, a situation he said ended a culture of amputated salaries in AOCOED.
