The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State for the 2026 governorship election, Benjamin Kayode Adereti, on Monday attended the 65th Anniversary celebration of Obafemi Awolowo University, where he lauded the institution’s leadership for sustaining academic excellence and infrastructural growth.
Adereti specifically commended the Vice-Chancellor, Adebayo Simeon Bamire, for what he described as remarkable strides in advancing the university’s academic standards and physical development.
According to him, the university has continued to maintain its position as one of Nigeria’s foremost centres of learning through visionary leadership, commitment to excellence, and strategic investments in infrastructure.
The APC Deputy Governorship Candidate also expressed appreciation to Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Adejare Bello as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the university.
He noted that the appointment reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening tertiary education through capable and experienced leadership.
Adereti further congratulated all recipients of awards and honours at the institution’s 65th Anniversary celebration, describing their recognition as a testament to their outstanding contributions to the university’s growth, national development, and humanity.
He urged the awardees to continue serving as worthy ambassadors of the institution and to inspire younger generations through excellence, integrity, and selfless service.
