Afolayan Drags Adekunle Gold, Jimi Solanke To MASSIMO For KultureCentrik

To make hanging out on the Lagos Mainland a new super cool thing, award winning filmmaker, actor and producer, Kunle Afolayan is patnering with upscale hangout, MASSIMO to berth a new monthly culturally conscious initiative aptly tagged KultureCentrik.
The gig will be debuting on 29 September, which coincidentally is the eve of Afolayan’s birthday, at the Poolside, Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja. The experiential pleasure will subsequently hold once every month.
Speaking on the new initiative, Afolayan said, “KultureCentrik essentially, is a free-spirited coming together of friends, distinguished artisans and highly placed individuals within society for nights filled with the enchantments of the various Nigerian cultures and the colours within.”
According to the filmmaker, KultureCentrik promises to treat fun lovers to a richly themed night of Yoruba culture featuring live music from some of Nigeria’s favourite alternative music artistes.
Headlining the night will be Adekunle Gold, G.T Guitarboy and Kentoxygen aka Edunjobi.

Performing poetry would be legendary Jimi Solanke and Ajobiewe amidst local food, Palmwine, traditional dances and drums which will include, Bata, Iya-Ilu, Gangan, Dundun, Omele, Saworo and Sekere.

There will also be cultural figures like the Egungun, Yoruba cloth stands where patrons can buy the very best of Adire, Etu, Alaari, Sanyan, Aso oke, Aran, and other variations of beads and braclets (Iyun, Segi, Alaadun, Oya, Akun) with a conscious touch of dignitaries for networking and many other elixirs hitherto missing on the Lagos Mainland scene.

Commenting, Olayinka Oyedeji, CEO, MASSIMO said, “The event starts at 6pm till midnight and it’s free. Come and let’s usher in a renaissance of Nigerian cultures on the Lagos Mainland scene as we also celebrate another year in the life of its spotlight host, the birthday boy, Kunle Afolayan. Subsequent months will feature representations of the cultural wealth of other Nigerian tribes with each distinct ethnicity and night represented and spearheaded by artists from each of these respective cultures.”
