The Agboyi Progressive Union, APU, has stated that the Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Lagos State, has nothing to do with the Agboyi Bridge as he only came to the project site to take pictures.
“Dele Osinowo knows nothing from the beginning to the end of the project. It was a Federal Government project, which was supervised by the Federal Ministry of Works and the Lagos State Government” the APU stated.
The Agboyi Progressive Union said that Dele Osinowo only came to take pictures of the bridge weeks after the engineer had left the site. The secretary of APU, Comrade Adebisi Musbau, who is also the admin of Agboyi town hall community management, said that it was only misleading for one online media used by Mayor Dele Osinowo, called Agboyi Voice, which reported that Osinowo’s input was responsible for the conceptualisation and the completion of Agboyi link bridge.
The APU warned him to desist from such misleading information and give kudos to the parties who were responsible for the actualisation of the Federal project, which was monitored by the State Ministry of Works and other relevant agencies.
The APU, in an emergency meeting held on 3rd February, 2024, at Agboyi, also used the medium to commend the State and Federal Government for the support towards the actualisation of Agboyi link bridge as well as the ongoing 40-bed maternity hospital, the ongoing jetty and the completed Agboyi town hall, which had been in dilapitated condition in the last 20 years.
They also reminded Dele Osinowo of his failure to visit the victims of flooding in Agboyi 1,11, 111, which affected most of the houses in Agboyi during the last flooding. The group said that it would have been better if such paparazzi visit was extended to Agboyi communities during the flooding period which lasted for almost 3 months. The APU stated that the State and Federal Government visited Agboyi to see the extent of the havoc caused by the flooding.
It will be recalled that many agencies of government, which included NEMA and several NGOs visited Agboyi communities to sympathise with the communities over the damage caused by the flood.
The Honourable member of the House of Representatives, who represents Kosofe at the Green Chamber, Alhaja Kafilat Ogbara, had to invite the then Miinister of Humanitarian Affairs to Agboyi to see the havoc havoc caused by the flooding physically. Till today, the Chairman, Dele Osinowo, could not visit the victims or check the extent of damage caused by the flooding despite the fact that it was huge.
The Agboyi Progressive Union, which was founded in 1946, advised Mayor Dele Osinowo to desist from such lies and let the Federal and the State Government take credit for the long overdue project, which was seriously pushed by the Kabiesi, the 4th Olu of Agboyi, Oba MAO Oladega and the SSA to the President on SDGs, Her Excellency Adejoke Orelope, the Governor of Lagos, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and some other notable personalities, who gave Agboyi a voice at a critical time. Hon Femi Saheed categorically spoke about the bridge at the floor of the House.
Prince Musbau Adebisi used the opportunity to remind Mayor Dele Osinowo of his total ignorance of the project when he said Agboyi link bridge will pass through Church Street in Alapere, meanwhile the site of the bridge passed through Agboyi Araromi Ilaje, which was the layout that has existed over decades ago and aligned solely in the survey, which serves as the blueprint till today.
“From the proposal, meetings, visitations of the Federal Government led committee to the relevant agencies in Lagos State as well as submission of surveys and dialogue on project MOU, Mayor Dele Osinowo knows nothing about all” the APU categorically stated.
The APU also thanked him for the water project in Agboyi but advised that the project should be powered by solar since that is the only commissioned project he can boast of in Agboyi in the last 7 years.
The Agboyi Progressive Union wants to state for the purpose of clarity that the representatives of the Agboyi communities have been in several meetings with the Federal and State Government without the input of the Local Government led by Dele Osinowo.
The APU reiterated that the success of the project was not without some legal warnings from some people and the cummunities instituted a peace committee, which was headed by the Baale of Ajelogo, High Chief Alayaki Seriki and some selected elders.
