The Lagos State Sports Commission has determined not to rest on its oars after Team Lagos’ outing at the recently held Zonal Elimination for the National Youth Games (NYG) 2019, which was held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The team secured nine tickets out of 14 available in the 14 team sports contested for.
P.M. EXPRESS can reports that as the Youth Games is fast approaching, the management of the Sports Commission decided to expand the preparation for the athletes, first with screening of all the athletes in 34 sports at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere on Friday.
Many athletes were screened in, while others who could not make the requirements were screened out in a bid to ensure that Team Lagos present clean athletes for the age grade tournament which holds at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State next month.
The Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Dr. Kweku Tandoh and the Director General, Mr. Oluwatoyin Gafar are two principled men of integrity who believe strongly in fairness so they want to ensure that Lagos excel in the Youth Games.
