As they intensify their preparation for their upcoming trip to the United Kingdom, the management of Buruj Sports Academy has lined up series of friendly games to keep the players in top shape ahead of their departure time.
Commencing from the match against Future Stars Academy inside the Agege Stadium on Wednesday morning, the CEO of the academy, Salaudeen Waheed, has disclosed that the friendly games will give him and the technical crew the ample opportunity to see how far many of the players have evolved, saying he would not mind replacing any of them who fails to measure up both on and off the field of play.
According to him, his management is committed to maximising the opportunities the trip will provide by ensuring that most of the youngsters are in a top shape both physically, mentally and technically so that they can play their way to stardom in front of top football agents and scouts.
“We are preparing our players very well ahead of the trip. That is one reason why we always emphasise the need for players to come forward and register with us so that they can learn one or two things before they can be considered for trips like this. “
“We are packaging quite a number of warm-up games for them so that we can ascertain how far they have gone in terms of their general evolution. We just don’t want to take them there to make up the number, we want most of them to show their full potential and the best way to help them is to keep them busy with friendly games. “
“Any player who fails to live up to the standard in terms of performance on the field of play or attitude in the camp will be dropped even though he has already been granted entry visa. We want to maximise the opportunities and hopefully this year, many of them will excel” he posited.
It would be recalled that most of the players for the trip were issued their travel visas about a fortnight ago paving way for the final lap of the preparation for this year’s edition of English Super Cup in Manchester and Welsh Super Cup in Cardiff, the United Kingdom.
