The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Lagos, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom, has reaffirmed the need for closer collaboration among security agencies to tackle Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that AIG Akpanudom made the call while attending a workshop organized by the Nigerian Army Women Command (NAWC) at the Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration (NASFA) Auditorium in Apapa, Lagos.
The event was themed “Repositioning the NAWC for Enhanced Operational Efficiency in Curbing Contemporary Security Threats”.
The workshop brought together senior military officers, security stakeholders, and representatives of various agencies to deliberate on strategies for strengthening operational capacity against emerging threats. Participants examined ways to improve coordination, intelligence sharing, and institutional capacity.
During the event, the Commander of the Nigerian Army Women Command, Brigadier General M.S. Adamu, presented a commemorative plaque to AIG Akpanudom. The award recognized the Nigeria Police Force’s continued collaboration and support in promoting national security and inter-agency cooperation.
In his remarks, the AIG commended the NAWC for organizing the workshop, describing it as timely and strategic. He noted that building institutional capacity and fostering synergy among security agencies remain critical to addressing contemporary security threats across the country.
AIG Akpanudom said the initiative reflects the growing recognition that no single agency can tackle modern security challenges alone. He stressed that sustained cooperation between the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force is essential to ensuring effective response and public safety.
The AIG added that the workshop aligns with the mission of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to safeguard lives and property while maintaining peace and stability nationwide. He said the FCID Annex, Lagos, remains committed to supporting such efforts.
According to the statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mayegun Aminat, the FCID Annex, Lagos, will continue to partner with other security agencies and stakeholders to enhance national security and contribute to economic development.
The event underscored the importance of joint training and dialogue in repositioning security commands to meet present-day challenges. Officials at the workshop agreed on the need for more frequent inter-agency engagements.
The NAWC workshop ended with a call for practical implementation of the resolutions reached, with participants pledging to strengthen collaboration at operational and strategic levels.
