Another 200 women have benefitted from the wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari’s Foundation’s Community-Based Cash Transfer Intervention in Katsina.
This was a follow-up to a similar gesture in her husband’s hometown Daura where 200 other women were assisted with cash to grow their business on Wednesday.
At the event held at the Katsina Multipurpose Hall on Friday, turned up were a large number of women who are into various small businesses like agricultural products processing and marketing, catering (including Akara and Masa sellers), cosmetics, tailoring and beading.
Coordinator of Aisha Buhari Foundation, Dr. Kamal Muhammad, who represented Mrs. Buhari at the event said the cash transfer initiative is in line with the vision of Future Assured Programme on improving the health and wellbeing of women and children.
The transfer, he said, will lead to an improvement in household income, which will in-turn improve feeding and nutritional status, school attendance and quality of education as well as improved health status of the family, among other benefits.
These benefits, he said will contribute to the attainment of related Sustainable Development Goals.
He charged the beneficiaries to expand their businesses with this cash support.
Katsina State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Badiyya Hassan Mashi thanked the wife of the President for constantly supporting women, saying that the support will assist entrepreneurial women to expand the capital base of their micro businesses and become more self-sustaining.
She urged beneficiaries to utilize the funds judiciously.
