Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, OON, FCA is the President of one of Africa’s fastest-growing conglomerates; Masters Energy Group. His group of (16) companies has interests in banking, aviation, shipping, agriculture, construction, insurance, security, etc. Dr. Uche Ogah is 48 years old this year and was born to Chief Wilson and Ezinne Pauline Ogah of Onuaku Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State.
Dr Uche Ogah’s profile has risen since he left the banking sector with over 10 years’ experience and established Masters Energy. Today, the company has other subsidiaries providing employment opportunity to over 18,000 people.
Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, is a Fulbright scholar, he holds Masters of Business Administration (MBA) University of Lagos, Bachelor of Science (Banking & Finance) from Ogun State University, Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) from University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and HND (Distinction) in Accountancy from the prestigious Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu. Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah has received: National Award, Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), an Honourary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration, Pride of Abia and Oke Oji of Abia among many other awards. He was a distinguished banker who rose to the position of an Assistant General Manager in sector in his thirties. As a banker he received many commendations and awards being proof of his diligence and high rated performance. He resigned from banking to establish his own company.
Dr Uche Ogah is a man with courage and a go-getter, one who sees the future and creates the enabling environment for a better possible direction. This man single handily transformed his community, built houses for people and gave employment to youths.
Uche Ogah ranks among the most distinguished industrialists/nationalists who have considered taking development to their home towns as he has established ultra-modern Petro-Chemical Industry (worth billions) beside the Onuaku Wonderland in Uturu just to give development and job creation opportunities within the South-East. Even the senate committee on industry visited this industrial masterpiece to see things for themselves.
He is an indefatigable master, a quintessential man, full of wisdom and charisma, fast in thinking, simple and a believer in collective ideas.
Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah is one of the nation’s truly great men, a role model of our time. He is not just humane by conviction; he demonstrates humanity by the cause he has totally devoted his life to. Dr Uche Ogah sees solution where others see problems. He has a firm believe that Abia can be transformed into a modern economy. He once told an audience that ‘’Abia people are known generally for their resolute spirit of enterprise, industry and commerce, if given the enabling environment, moribund state-owned industries can be resuscitated, while farming settlements can be mechanised to reduce the current wastages of farm produce being presently experienced, before the products get to the market”
Furthermore, he said “several Small and Medium Scale industries and industrial complexes can be set up and/or supported to be established in different parts of the state by industrialists. Incentives can be laid on the table to attract potential investors. The youths of Abia can be meaningfully engaged in these industries. Consequently, their practical technical skills will be sharpened, as they imbibe good work ethics. The resultant effect of these moves will be the massive industrialization of the state and job creation’’
Dr. Uche Ogah believes that states in Nigeria and the country as a whole should be economically viable and self- sustaining without being dependent on revenue allocation from the Federation Account to survive. This he said can be achieved by running a highly industrialised state that will target the patronage of over 180 million Nigerians and beyond.
Dr. Ogah, is the President of Uche Ogah Foundation, a role model to Nigerian students, youths, politicians and church leaders due to his passion for things of God . He joined the Scripture Union (SU) in 1986/87 as a young dynamic student with high hopes for a brighter future, which has given him the good opportunity to offer himself as a sacrifice to God’s work in great humility. A charming personality who is always ready to show appreciation to God Almighty at any point in time , Dr Uche Ogah’s non-tribalistic nature can be seen from the ethnic composition of his various businesses.
