The first edition of the Hon. Ajide U-20 football championship is gradually reaching its climax. After two rounds of round- robin matches in the four groups that had three teams each, Phoenix FA, Ify Babes, Puma FA and Banjoh FA have qualified for the semi finals.
The football competition which is bankrolled by the Executive Chairman of Surulere local government, Hon. Tajudeen Ajide and organized by the Association of Proprietors of Football Academies of Nigeria (APFAN), started with twelve youths drawn from different parts of Lagos State.
In the semi final pairings to be played at the hockey pitch, National stadium, Surulere, in the first semi final, FC Phoenix will tackle Puma FA, while two free scoring sides, Banjoh FA and Ify Babes will square up against each other in the second semi final match to determine qualifiers for the final slated for Sunday, March 1st, 2020, at the same venue.
Meanwhile, the championship has continued to produce interesting statistics. So far, a total of 30 goals have been scored in the keenly contested championship.
