The leader of the newly inaugurated executive officers and 9th President of Akwa Ibom State Community (AKISCOM), Lagos, Chief Dr. Edet Ambang, has pledged to deliberately and productively collaborate with the Lagos and Akwa Ibom State governments to build a new AKISCOM Lagos.
While he confirmed his readiness to identify with the developmental strides of the Lagos State Government, Ambang also expressed his willingness and that of his EXCO to enthusiastically key into the laudable development programmes of Akwa Ibom State Government, which are encapsulated in the A.R.I.S.E. Agenda of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno.
Addressing members and guests after his formal swearing-in held at AKISCOM Secretariat in Surulere, Lagos recently, Ambang, who is also the outgoing President of Oron Union, Lagos branch, noted that productive collaborations with the two State Governments, development partners, NGOs, patriotic Akwa Ibomites and other critical stakeholders was imperative to facilitate the implementation of his “PROWES P”( Projects, Welfare, Empowerment, Scholarship and other developmental endeavors) Agenda for the benefit of the Akwa Ibom indigenes in Lagos and its environs.
Chief Ambang therefore, called on members, who were aggrieved in the last general elections of the community to bury their grievances as sacrifice for peace and join his administration to confront together, the challenging task of building AKISCOM Lagos of our collective dreams and aspirations.
While promising to run an open and all inclusive administration to promote and sustain the collective unity and peace of the community, Dr. Ambang reaffirmed the resolve of members of AKISCOM Lagos to remain law abiding as well as good and proud ambassadors of Akwa Ibom State in Lagos, their host state and its environs.
Chief Ambang defeated three other contestants in the November 18, 2023 General Election of the community to emerge as the new President for the next three years. He and other newly elected officers were formally sworn-in by the Legal Adviser of the Community, Barrister Ita Umiom, in a colourful ceremony held on January 20, 2024. The event was well attended by members of the community and dignitaries from far and near.
The immediate past President, Prince Felix Udoh, used the occasion to take the guests through his journey so far as an immediate past President and highlighted eight major achievements of his administration. He urged members and stakeholders to give Dr. Ambang and his team sincere cooperation and sacrificial supports to enable him achieve his leadership objectives for the community maximally.
Former President, Chief Elijah Ifot, noted that the emergence of Chief Ambang as President of AKISCOM was ordained by God to demonstrate that His divine will was not that of man and sued for peace from all members to end to all disputes regarding the elections. He also called for all to support the new administration, saying his expectation for the team was to redeem the corporate image of AKISCOM Lagos and restore the lost respect for members through excellent performance.
