The Executive Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, has assured that all aspirants on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, who failed to secure the party’s tickets for the upcoming Local Government election on September 21, 2024, will receive refunds starting from Monday.
The Governor made this assurance after attending Sunday Mass at the Government House Chapel in Owerri, while addressing the state.
He clarified that only the funds spent on purchasing forms from the party will be refunded, excluding expenses made without receipts, such as those spent on consultations.
“All the people that applied as aspirants to run for either councillorship or chairmanship in the local government election who are not successful, your moneys will be refunded tomorrow (Monday).”
“The ones we will not refund is the one you gave without receipts (for consultations)” Governor Uzodimma stated.
He urged the aspirants to remain steadfast, objective, and consider the greater good of the party and the state above individual interests.
The Governor also pleaded with leaders, whose expectations may have been disappointed, to bear with the party and make sacrifices for the party’s and state’s benefit.
Regarding concerns about the Local Government election, Governor Uzodimma reassured the public that the election will proceed as scheduled by the Imo State Electoral Commission (ISIEC) on September 21, 2024.
