Allegations have surfaced over a disputed property within Victoria Creek Gardens (VCG) Estate in Rivers State, as complainants claim that Mr. Micheal Amadi-Orwu, whom they alleged is connected to the matter, has continued to advertise and sell portions of the disputed land while a Police inquiry is ongoing.
According to the complainants, the development has raised concerns among persons who claim interest in the property and residents in the area, who alleged that law enforcement agencies have yet to conclude investigations while activities continue on the land.
Investigations by http://pmexpressng.com indicate that some complainants said they have sought intervention from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Monitoring Unit in Abuja over what they described as delays in the investigation.
One of the complainants told http://pmexpressng.com that he recently met with officials of the IGP Monitoring Team in Abuja, including a senior officer, over the handling of the case.
According to the complainant, officials reportedly indicated that the case file could be reassigned for further review. The complainant alleged that efforts to retrieve the file have been delayed as the officer said to be in possession of the file was unavailable for contact at the time.
“While we continue to seek Police intervention, activities have continued on the disputed land,” the complainant alleged.
The allegations relate to claims of forceful takeover of property, demolition of structures, and disputes over land ownership covering parcels around Victoria Creek Gardens, located along the New Port Harcourt Airport Road axis in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
http://pmexpressng.com earlier reported that Mr. Amadi-Orwu was detained by the Police over allegations relating to demolition of structures allegedly valued at over N1 billion, and was later released on bail pending the conclusion of investigations. Police have not issued a public update on the current status of the inquiry.
Complainants alleged that promotional materials linked to Victoria Creek Gardens have continued to circulate online, including a recent post by the Instagram handle “victoriacreekgardens” announcing participation at the Obakor Ikwerre International Convention in Houston, Texas, where investment opportunities connected to the estate were reportedly showcased.
Persons who claim interest in the land have urged members of the public and prospective buyers to exercise caution and verify ownership details before purchasing any portion of the disputed property, citing ongoing investigations and multiple claims over the land.
One of the complainants, identified as Hon. Dr. Chris, alleged that structures including a bungalow, fence, gatehouse and security installations on a portion of land he claims interest in were demolished, and that disputes over the property began around 2021. He alleged that attempts to rebuild were met with further demolition. http://pmexpressng.com could not independently verify these claims.
According to the complainants, the matter was reported to the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, whose intervention they said temporarily halted activities on the property. They allege that activities resumed afterward.
The complainants also alleged that Mr. Amadi-Orwu made claims about connections within security agencies and the judiciary. These claims could not be independently verified by http://pmexpressng.com, as no evidence was provided.
Sources familiar with the inquiry told http://pmexpressng.com that Mr. Amadi-Orwu was recently detained again as investigators continued review of the case, and was later released on bail. The allegations under review by police, according to the complainants, include claims of threats, criminal trespass, malicious damage, and forgery of land documents. Police authorities have not confirmed the specific allegations under investigation.
As of press time, Police authorities had not issued an official statement on the latest developments.
Efforts by http://pmexpressng.com to obtain comments from Mr. Micheal Amadi-Orwu regarding the allegations were unsuccessful. http://pmexpressng.com remains open to publishing his response or any statement from his representatives.
