Alleged N103.7m Fraud: 46-Year-Old Woman Arraigned In Lagos, Remanded In Kirikiri

A 46-year-old woman, Oluwatoyin Christiana, has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Ikeja, Lagos State, over alleged fraud involving over N103 million.

Christiana was arraigned before Mrs. O. Kasunu of the Ikeja Magisterial District on a two-count charge bordering on alleged obtaining by false pretence and stealing. The case is marked as Charge No. /2026, Commissioner of Police vs Oluwatoyin Christiana.

According to the charge sheet filed by the police, the defendant is alleged to have obtained various sums of money from several individuals and businesses between November 2025 and May 2026. The police prosecutor in the matter is SP Phillip Ademigbuji, who told the court that the alleged offences were committed at No. 25/27, Old Ota Road, Agege, Lagos State, within the Ikeja Magisterial District.

In the first count, the prosecution alleged that the defendant, with intent to defraud, allegedly trickily obtained a total sum of N103,737,800.00, which is One Hundred and Three Million, Seven Hundred and Thirty-Seven Thousand, Eight Hundred Naira, from over 30 complainants. The sums listed in the charge include N10.5 million allegedly obtained from one Amaka Uche on April 17, 2026, N9.5 million from Lubabatu Abubakar on February 17, 2026, N12 million from Chinelu Ndubisi, N9.9 million from Adeagbo Jumoke Ganiyat, N6.6 million from one Mrs. Abe Johnson Ayodeji, N6.5 million from Taiwo Morenikeji Raji, N6.4 million from Adeniji Susan, and several other amounts ranging from N340,000 to N4.9 million from other complainants. The prosecution alleged that the funds were collected through accounts bearing Togip Ventures and Oluwatoyin Christiana Adebayo. The alleged offence is said to be contrary to Section 314 and punishable under Section 314(3) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

In the second count, the police alleged that the defendant stole the said N103.7 million, being property of the complainants listed in count one. The alleged offence is contrary to Section 286 and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty.  The prosecutor, SP Phillip Ademigbuji asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove the allegations.

The presiding Magistrate Mrs. O. Kasunu granted the defendant bail with two sureties who must show evidence of means of livelihood and evidence of tax payment. The Court ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Correctional Center at Kirikiri town pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.

The case was filed by the Area F Command Headquarters, with Inspector Olowo Michael listed as the Investigating Police Officer. The charge sheet was approved by the District Prosecutor’s Office, Ogba, Directorate of Public Prosecutions, Lagos State Ministry of Justice. The Area Commander is ACP Paul Azuka Okafor.

It is important to note that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent court of law. The allegations contained in the charge sheet are accusations by the police and have not been proven in court.
