Following statement by the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, HE Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, a group, Concerned Amaechi Friends (CAF), has clarified that comments made by the former Minister of Transport, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, at a recent event were not intended to incite unrest.
In a rebuttal on Saturday, the Concerned Amaechi Friends said, “The recent statement by the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, H.E. Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, MON, accusing H.E. Rt. Hon. Barr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, CON, of inciting violence is both surprising and unnecessary. At a time when Nigerians are facing significant economic and security challenges, it is important that public discourse remains focused on solutions rather than political misunderstandings”.
“Amaechi—a respected statesman, two-term Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, two-term Governor of Rivers State, former Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (2011–2015), and former Minister of Transportation—has always been committed to the progress and well-being of Nigerians. His recent remarks were a reflection of the concerns shared by many citizens who are eager to see improvements in governance, security, and economic stability. They were by no means intended to incite unrest.”
“We believe that public officials, including those in leadership positions, should work together in addressing the genuine concerns of Nigerians rather than engaging in statements that may divert attention from the real issues. It is our hope that all stakeholders remain focused on finding lasting solutions to the nation’s challenges.”
“Nigerians are looking up to their leaders for guidance, unity, and progress. Open dialogue and mutual respect should always be the guiding principles in addressing national issues.”
