Legislators are the oil that lubricates the wheels of democracy and the pillars on which strong institutions and of course, good governance is built. Without an effective legislature,  democracy could be a mere wish rather than a reality and without a supportive legislature,  good governance might remain a pipe dream. An experienced legislator is an asset both to his constituents and the society at large.

When he was elected into the House of Assembly in 2019, under a relatively unknown Paryy, and as well making history as the first person to be elected to the Imo State House of Assembly in Nwangele from outside the ruling Party in the State, Rt. Hon. Amarachi Chyna Iwuanyanwu left no one in doubt about his determination, not just to change the trajectory of political representation in his local Nwangele Constituency but also in the wider Imo political spectrum.

Given the level of influence and respect he commanded even as someone who was newly elected to the House, it was difficult for anyone to ignore him. Some people tried to credit his influence to the connections that his father, Late China Iwuanyanwu,  who was one of the most respected political tacticians and a very influential businessman in his own right. It was just a matter of time before Amarachi left even the most doubtful critic of his with no option but to concede that he is not just a “chip off the old block”, but also a well-honed leader and kindhearted representative of the people whose efficiency would set a standard for responsible and impactful representation.

From attracting critical developmental projects to his people to undertaking unprecedented human development initiatives, across Party lines, within and outside his Nwangele Constituency,  the young real estate mogul and investor turned politician has warmed himself into the hearts of his people to the extent that in Nwangele, it is almost a taboo to speak of any other political Party, but the All Progressives Congress, his Party.

Recognised as one of the most experienced and most dogged legislators in the State at the moment,  not just because of his record-setting term as the Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House Assembly, but as a young man whose wisdom,  openness and team spirit are credited for the stability that the 9th and 10th sessions of that Assembly have enjoyed,  Amarachi has proven himself as a credible and reliable legislator and politician without indulging in rabble-rousing of any sorts.

Nicknamed “Mr. Capacity” by his colleagues in the House of Assembly and his numerous admirers across the State, he has become a veritable role model to many aspiring politicians who cannot but admire his leadership styles and tactful way of ensuring that the majority of the people are given a sense of belonging in the politics of his local community.

A symbol of youthful energy, creativity and intelligence, the Rt. Hon. Deputy Speaker has represented the youth constituency in the State well, and has through his competent and trustworthy representation,  made a strong case for more young people to be given opportunities to serve in political positions. He has not been carried away by the allure of power, but has stayed loyal to his political mentor,  His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, and humble in listening to the people and doing his best to meet their needs.

A true Party man, Rt. Hon Amarachi Chyna Iwuanyanwu does not forget where his mandate comes from,  he takes special care to keep the Party’s structures well-oiled and vibrant. He understands that Party officials are servants of the Party, and from time to time, he makes sure that they are encouraged in one way or the other.  He also helps the Party’s campaign by being one of the most credible and competent elected officials.

The people of Nwangele could be said to be third time lucky having elected this adriot legislative egghead and leadership role model as the candidate of the winning Party for the 2027 general elections,  and Imo people will be better for it in the 11th session of the State Assembly when he is expected to bring his wealth of experience into bear as one of the highest ranking legislators, to consolidate on the gains of the “Shared Prosperity” administration.

May the Grace of God Continue to Abide with the good people of Nwangele and Imo people. Amen.
