The Nigerian Ambassador and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Burundi, Amb. Elijah Onyeagba (PhD), in his message to the Nigerian child to mark this year’s Children’s Day celebration, has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that all Nigerian children especially the Girl Child are empowered to achieve greatness.

According to the Nigerian diplomat, ‘’Children are the real future of any nation. So everyone of us should understand our collective responsibility towards our children at all times.  A greater Nigeria  can only be guaranteed when our children are provided with the enabling environment where they can, at their early age, discover and harness their talents and skills, in preparation for the future before them”.

He decried the danger posed by the present insecurity in some parts of the country occasioned by targeted kidnapping of school children in their learning environment as  “tragic”, saying that this might lead to an increase in illiteracy, child trafficking and abuse. He called on all relevant stakeholders to, as a matter of ugency, increase security around learning facilities across the country.

Amb. Elijah Onyeagba promised that he will use every available resource within his reach as a diplomat to ensure that our children are presented with a safer environment.

“May God bless Nigerian Children wherever they may be!
Happy Children’s Day to every Nigerian Child!” Amb. Onyeagba concluded.
