In a spirited effort to enhance citizens’ and residents’ participation in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, Anambra State Civic and Social Reformation Office (ANCISRO) on Monday, launched an street-to-street public sensitisation campaign across motor parks and markets in Awka capital of Anambra State.

Leading the outreach tagged ‘Go and Get Registered,’ the ANCISRO Managing Director, Mr. Chuka I. Nnabuife, urged eligible residents to take full advantage of the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) CVR and go to register as new voters, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or transfer their voter registration to their desired locations.

The ANCISRO awareness team visited key locations in the city, including Ukwuorji Market, First Market, Second Market, Book Foundation, Ezeuzu Junction, Commissioners’ Quarters and several busy streets and parks. At every stop, Mr. Nnabuife personally engaged traders, commuters, and passersbye, emphasising the importance of voter registration and participation in elections.

He informed the members of the public in the markets, motor parks and busy streets that the delegation visited around Awka metropolis that INEC officials are currently stationed at designated centers across the 20 wards of Awka South Local Government Area, actively registering eligible residents.

Emphasising the significance of voter registration exercise, Mr. Nnabuife said: “Your PVC is not just a fulfillment of your civic responsibility — it is your voice, your power to decide who governs your community, your state, and your country.”

He also hinted the possibility of the passage of a legislative proposal being considered by the National Assembly to check voter apathy, and stressed the urgency for citizens to act promptly. “Don’t wait until it’s too late. The time to register as a voter is now,” he urged.

The campaign aligns with ANCISRO’s broader mission to promote civic education, social responsibility, and active participation in democratic governance across Anambra State.
