As the 2021 Governorship  election draws near, those who want to keep the ruling party All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in power are busy strategising. To this end, various support groups for Gubernatorial contestants have virtually taken over the media space.

Since the former aide to President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo, declared interest to contest the Governorship election, ndi Anambra are practically in celebration mood. No day passed without new support groups emerging all in a bid to ensure Nwankpo’s success at the Gubernatorial polls.

On Wednesday, the  conveners of “Women In Media WIM,” Anambra State, paid a courtesy call to Dr. Chuma-Odili Harris, DG, Media/Publicity & Strategy of Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo Campaign Organization.
The said visit, which was to congratulate Dr. Chuma over his appointment as Media Director to the Anambra frontline Governorship aspirant Nze Akachukwu  Nwankpo, was also an opportunity to register their support and solidarity to the Nwankpo’s Governorship bid.

The Chairperson of the group in the state, Lady Franka Anozie, who led the association during the courtesy call on Wednesday, said the news of his appointment was received with joy, knowing full well that the appointment could be likened to a round peg in a round hole.

“We are excited about this appointment because you are a patron of WIM in the state and a professional per excellence,” she opined.

While commending the APGA Gubernatorial hopeful Nze Akachukwu for the appointment, she noted that Dr Chuma’s dedication, hard work and God’s favour has brought him this far.
She added: “We are here to also say thank you for the continuous support we have enjoyed from you so far,” as she urged him to continue to mentor media practitioners in the state”.

WIM in the state also called on Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo to support their activities and appealed for the sponsorship of members to conferences.

Thereafter, a beautiful congratulatory card was presented to Dr. Chuma. A highly elated Chuma thanked the group for seeing the need to embark on the visit, adding that he remained a committed patron of the group in the state.

He urged them to be worthy ambassadors of WIM wherever they find themselves.Responding to the demands of support from the group in certain areas, he noted that helping media practitioners has always been his passion.

“I also will do the much I can in sponsoring members for conferences,” he stated, adding that my office doors are always open to WIM members whenever the need arises.

He enjoined them to be partners in the ongoing campaign to ensure that Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo becomes the next governor of Anambra State, saying that Nwankpo remained a media friendly politician.
