Former international, Waidi Akanni has hailed the appointment of Coach Andrew Uwe by new NNL outfit, Vandrezzer FC, saying it will benefit the team and the NNL.
Akanni, a former teammate of Uwe, said that the new coach who has been involved with youth teams for several years in the United States would bring his wealth of experience to bear, while also serving as a role model for the young players.
Apart from securing the service of Uwe, Akanni stated that Vandrezzer has become a model club with importance placed on players contract and welfare as well as development of a youth academy a feeder to the main team.
“I am excited about the hiring of Andrew Uwe by Vandrezzer. He is a qualified coach who will help the team grow and he will also be a role model to the players in the league.
“He is also in a team that takes players contract and welfare seriously, a team that is developing a good youth academy, while it has its own television network that will showcase league games the team is involved in and its other activities.
Akanni, who played with Uwe at the junior and senior national team levels, wished his former teammate success as he begin his sojourn in coaching in Nigeria.
The former Chairman of Lagos State Football Association who paid kudos to the Vandrezzer management for relocating the team to Lagos said it would give the players the needed exposure.
