Aramco President Amin Nasser To Be Honoured At 24th World Petroleum Congress In Calgary

Aramco President & CEO Amin Nasser will be honoured this year with the World PetrolWPC Dewhurst Award in recognition of his leadership and contributions to the oil and gas industry.

Nasser is only the twelfth recipient of the Dewhurst Award in the nearly 90-year history of the World Petroleum Council (WPC).

Pedro Miras, WPC President, called “Nasser a visionary in our industry” and someone who has “earned great respect from his team as well as his peers through his support of education and training, as well as his global cooperation and open approach to the challenges we face.” Miras added: “On behalf of our Board and Members I am delighted to congratulate him on this recognition.”

After graduating from the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia with a degree in petroleum engineering, Nasser joined Aramco in 1982. During a successful career of more than four decades, Nasser has served in a number of leadership positions in the company. Under his leadership, Aramco is engaged in the largest capital investment program in its history, building on its energy industry leadership position by expanding its oil and gas production capacity, increasing the downstream value chain with significant investments and joint venture partnerships globally, and developing new, lower-carbon energy solutions.

Al-Athel, President, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia – The 1st Dewhurst Lecture (1991), Sir Peter Holmes, Former CEO, Royal Dutch/Shell group, United Kingdom – The 2nd Dewhurst Lecture (1994), Kenneth T Derr, Chairman and CEO, Chevron Corporation, USA – The 3rd Dewhurst Lecture (1997), Pierre Jacquard, Chairman and CEO, IFP, France – The 4th Dewhurst Lecture (2000), Euan Baird,Chairman of the Board, President,and CEO of Schlumberger – The 5th Dewhurst Lecture (2002), Lord Browne of Madingley, Group Chief Executive, BP P.L.C. – The 6th Dewhurst Lecture (2005), H.E. Ali Al-Naimi, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. – The 7th Dewhurst Lecture – presented in Madrid 2008, Guilherme De Oliveira Estrella, the Chief Exploration and Production Officer and Member of the Executive Board of Brazil’s Petrobras – The 8th lecture was delivered in Qatar in December 2011 – The 8th Dewhurst Lecture and H.E. Abdulla Bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Former Deputy Prime Minister of Energy and President of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority of Qatar. The 9th Dewhurst Lecture was delivered at the 21st World Petroleum Congress in Moscow, June 2014.

Other award winners are H.E. Rex W. Tillerson, then USA Secretary of State, and past Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Exxon Mobil Corporation, received his award at the Opening Ceremony of the 22nd WPC in Istanbul 2017.
