The Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has described the victory of Otunba Ademola Adeleke in Saturday”s Osun West Senatorial Bye Election as the decision of the people which everybody must respect.
In a state controlled by an All Progressive Congress, APC government, political calculation was to see a smooth ride of APC iin Saturday “s election, Adeleke, candidate of People”s Democratic Party,PDP, defied all odds to win the poll as he recorded 97,480 to defeat the candidate of APC, Senator Mudashiru Hussein, who polled 66,116.
Reacting to the victory of Adeleke, Governor Aregbesola in a post on his Facebook Wall Sunday afternoon said “I congratulate Ademola Adeleke on his victory at the polls yesterday.The people have spoken.Democracy won and we respect the people’s choice. I thank our supporters for their continued show of commitment to our cause.”
The Governor wrote that the defeat of his party did not go down without some lessons learnt in its wake. He assured that the ruling party would come out strongly henceforth.
He said ”Important lessons have been learnt and we will be back stronger. “
He,however thanked the people of Osun state for spoken well through the result of the election and for ensuring that the election did not come with violence.
“Most importantly, I thank the people of Osun for once again displaying the qualities of true Omoluabis. Our election was devoid of violence,” Ategbesola said.s
