The prestigious NDLEA Celebrity Drug Free Club has inducted new members from the entertainment industry. This time, Mr. Charles Inojie (actor and film maker) and Mr. Desmond Arize Okonkwo (Actor) joined the club in a campaign against the abuse of drugs in the society.
The induction was conducted by Mr. Wilson Ighodalo, who is the National Coordinator, NDLEA Celebrity Drug Free Club and Mrs. Felicia Ikechukwu, Director, T&R (representing the NDLEA Chairman) at the NDLEA Headquarters, Ikoyi, Lagos Annex.
Ighodalo said that the aims of NDLEA Celebrity Drug Free Club are not just focused about the delivery of information to increase youths knowledge and understanding, but to also contribute towards the development of skills and attitudes that can help young people to make safer choices in their life.
He noted the role of the top celebrities who are members of the club as serving as role model to colleagues and youths in the society and to influence them positively and
to increase the understanding of the dangers posed by drugs and substances abuse with their platform.
Ighodalo said the club has played the role of encouraging young people to resist any form of drug use and anyone with substance abuse issues to break the silence and seek for help.
They have also supported and promoted youth oriented activities that highlight healthy lifestyles in the society and provided alternative activities to drug involvement including advocacy campaigns, public orientation and discouraging stigmatization against drug users.
The latest induction was for those who had joined the fight from various sectors and industries to ensure the reduction of abuse in the society.
