As Confused Governor Obaseki Goes Spiritual

JOHN MAYAKI
It is said in the Holy Book that there is no rest for the wicked; and the wicked flees when no one pursues. Such is the case of Godwin Obaseki of Edo state whose wickedness and incompetence have formed an unholy alliance to unleash destruction on the economy, security and infrastructure of the state.
And confused too – he sacked several professors and lecturers from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma and being confused, he withdrew the sack letter ostensibly waiting to effect it after the elections. The people are protesting against the Governor on a daily basis – they re tired and tormented. They’ve had their houses demolished and homeless. Their lands grabbed by the Chief land grabber himself. Desolation in the land under emperor Godwin Obaseki.
In a bid to save himself from the destruction he midwifed, Godwin Obaseki is now like the Biblical wicked man, running from pillar to post, visiting markets, organising solidarity matches, and visiting churches all around town, seeking the face of God he has long abandoned with glory departed – Ichabod.
But as the popular Latin phrase goes, Vox Populi Vox Dei; the voice of the people, is the voice of God. The people of Edo state have collectively rejected Godwin Obaseki, and so have the heavens – we saw it during the presidential and National Assembly elections.
For the discerning, this is ominous. When the spirit of God was going to depart from King Saul, following his unrepentant act of disobedience, the words came from Prophet Samuel who distanced himself from the King, lest he shares his ill-fate, and went in search of David for anointing.
As in the days of old, so it is now. Godwin Obaseki’s disobedience and wickedness to the people have cost him the spirit and anointing of God, and as a result, His prophets, like Samuel, are sounding the warning and keeping a distance.
A redemption may have been possible for Godwin Obaseki, especially in his supposed pursuit of God as he goes spiritual. But he is full of hypocrisy, this man, and his pursuit is no more an agenda to unwisely try to induce men of God as he as done to some mean men.
For Godwin Obaseki, the church is empty. His congregation has left and his divinity unravelled. It is time to go. He can’t be trusted.
