Avon Dialysis Centre, a subsidiary of Avon Medical, has been awarded the Dialysis Service Provider of the Year at the 2026 Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Awards (NHEA), in recognition of its commitment to clinical excellence, innovation and delivering an Excellent Patient Experience in dialysis & kidney care.

The award recognises Avon Dialysis Centre’s sustained investment in specialist renal care, patient safety, and service innovation, reinforcing its position as one of Nigeria’s leading providers of dialysis services.

Over the past eight years, the centre has delivered more than 16,730 dialysis sessions to over 500 patients living with acute and chronic kidney disease.

Equipped with nine dialysis machines across its facilities, Avon Dialysis Centre performs an average of 250 dialysis sessions every month, supported by a multidisciplinary team of nephrologists, specialised dialysis nurses and other healthcare professionals.

The Centre continues to strengthen patient outcomes through specialised services, including advanced Intensive Care Unit (ICU) haemodiafiltration (HDF), enabling highly specialised renal support for critically ill patients through technology designed to deliver greater treatment flexibility and operational efficiency.

It also provides an in-house pharmacy that improves continuity of care and enhanced laboratory turnaround times that support faster clinical decision-making.

Its commitment to quality and patient safety is reflected in strong clinical outcomes, supported by robust clinical governance and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Commenting on the recognition, Dr Akinbiyi Oke, Chief Executive Officer, Avon Medical Practice, said: “We are honoured to receive this recognition from the Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Awards. It reflects our unwavering commitment to delivering safe, compassionate, and high-quality kidney care while ensuring every patient enjoys an excellent patient experience.

“This award belongs to every patient who has entrusted us with their care and every member of our team whose professionalism, expertise and compassion make exceptional kidney care possible every day. It strengthens our resolve to keep investing in innovation, our people, and our facilities as we advance our mission of providing access to affordable, world-class healthcare services.”

Also speaking on the achievement, Dr Ejiro Ogodo-Nwachukwu, Head, Diagnostics, Dialysis Services & Patient Experience, Avon Medical Practice, described the award as a reflection of the team’s relentless pursuit of excellence.

“This recognition is a testament to the dedication, expertise, and compassion of our multidisciplinary team. At Avon Dialysis Centre, we believe quality kidney care extends beyond dialysis treatment. It is about creating an excellent patient experience, where every patient feels supported, respected and confident throughout their journey to full recovery.

As we celebrate this milestone, we remain committed to advancing dialysis and renal care through innovation, continuous quality improvement and evidence-based practice, ensuring that more Nigerians have access to safe, affordable, and world-class dialysis services.”

As the burden of kidney disease continues to rise in Nigeria, Avon Dialysis Centre remains committed to expanding access to specialist dialysis & renal care, advancing innovation, and delivering an Excellent Patient Experience while setting new benchmarks for quality, patient safety, and service excellence.
