The Awoniyi Asalu Elemo Family in Ajao Estate, Lagos, has elected Chief Erinfolami Togun as the new Baale of their community.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that this follows the removal of former Baale, Chief Aliu Abiola Afariogun, for allegedly constituting public nuisance.
The new Baale-elect was presented to HRM Oba Isa Abiodun Faronbi Arolagbade, traditional ruler of Isolo Kingdom, at his palace.
The presentation was attended by family members, led by High Chief Isiaka Adele Ejalonibu, Olori Ebi of Awoniyi Asalu Elemo family, and palace chiefs.
Chief Afariogun was removed after publicly declaring that Isolo had no king, disparaging the traditional institution. Despite invitations from the monarch and Local Government authority, he refused to address the issue.
The monarch then requested the family to present a new Baale-elect. During the presentation, Chief Ejalonibu explained that the family had elected Chief Togun following the monarch’s letter.
Oba Arolagbade welcomed the new Baale-elect and outlined the next steps for installation which include officially informing the Local Government and having meeting with the Chiefs.
Chief Ejalonibu stated that the process was transparent, with the family meeting and electing Chief Togun as their new Baale. Chief Togun expressed surprise and gratitude, pledging selfless service to his people.
The climax of the presentation was the offering of prayers by the Monarch and Palace Chiefs.
