LUCKY LAWAL
Oba Adewale Kabiru Shotubi, the Ayangunre of Ikorodu, has debunked the restriction order that women should stay indoors on Tuesday 8th May, 2018 during the yearly Oro Festival.
The monarch, who refuted the story making the rounds that he had placed restriction on females in the kingdom to observe the Oro tradition, said that he never gave such directive and he was too civilized to give such order.
It should be recalled that the Oro festival is traditionally observed in Ikorodu and environs, in accordance with the tradition. The king said that the people of Ikorodu should not entertain any fear and warned trouble makers and inciters to desist from such.
However, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Edgal Imohimi sounded a strong warning. “Nobody should hide under the guise of this festival to harass any sex because it is a traditional festival, I will not allow it” the police boss said.
With the aforementioned assurance from the monarch, no one has been restricted and as such the State Police Command and the Area Command, Area ‘N’ will be on ground to monitor the security situation in that area of Lagos State, the CP concluded.
