A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde, has expressed shock over the death of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun saying “a Titan has fallen.”
He described the death of the Olubadan, as a great loss to Ibadan social, religious and traditional systems.
Ayorinde who is the Agbaofin of Ibadanland said the late Olubadan would be greatly missed by all for his outstanding contributions to the society.
Ayorinde in a statement issued on Friday said that the late Olubadan lived by example adding that Ibadanland has lost an amazing and progressive Kabiyesi.
“He was extremely civilised and appropriate in his demeanour and countenance”, he stated.
He said “I received the news of the transition of Olubadan of Ibadanland, with sadness. His demise has robbed us of his wisdom and wise counseling. He never withheld his deep insights and rich perspectives from those who sought his guidance.
The late Ibadanland worked assiduously for peace and stability of not only Ibadanland, Oyo State and Yorubaland, but also the entire country.
“He will be greatly missed by all. His contributions to the society were outstanding in all ramifications. A peaceful and God-fearing man who lived by example.
“I pray for the repose of his soul and for his family to receive the fortitude to bear their loss as only the Almighty God can give them succour.
I commiserate with H.E. Governor Seyi Makinde, and the entire people of Ibadanland over the demise of our great king, and great son of Ibadan.
I also commiserate with the Obas of Ibadan and the Olubadan in Council, the Oloris and children and his entire household.”
