Bash Ali Vs Dalung: Court On Recess Forces Postponement Of Judgement

The Federal High Court in Kubwa, Abuja, which was on recess, has forced the judgement in the N1 billion case instituted by World Boxing Federation, WBF, cruiserweight champion, Nigerian Bash Ali, OON, against the Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung and the Inspector General of Police, to be shifted to 2 September, 2017.

The judgement was supposed to come on Wednesday, but PM EXPRESS gathered that the judge, Hon. Justice Kawu was on vacation, hence the postponement of the judgement.

The boxing ambassador alleged in this case that the Minister ordered his security guards to brutalise him in his office at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja. He is demanding the sum of N1 billion damages from the injury he sustained from the assault which allegedly kept him in the hospital for days.

“The judgement in the minister’s case could not come up because the judge was on vacation. The N1 billion case judgement will now hold on 2 September. I thank all the people that came to Kubwa court to give me their moral support, ” Bash Ali said.

Meanwhile, Monday 17 July will now be the judgement day in the trumped up charge of illegal trespass case instituted against the boxer by NEXIM Bank and the Commissioner of Police before Senior Magistrate Abibat Bello at Dutse Alhaji, Abuja. This judgement supposed to have come up on Monday but had to be shifted because the Magistrate was ill.

“Because I said no to corruption, these corrupt Nigerians are doing their best to jail me on a trumped up charge.

”On January 7, 2014, the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) through the National Sports Commission, inaugurated the Bash Ali Boxing Project Local Organizing Committee to organize in Nigeria the first Guinness World Record Boxing Championship fight in Africa, in a transparent manner . NEXIM Bank and  Bank of Industry were mandated to fund the historic event. Fight money was deposited at the Central Bank of Nigeria. Time to release the money for the fight, corruption took over. NEXIM Bank demanded for a bribe and I turned down the request. For having the guts to say no, the banks and the Minister of Sport have done everything and  anything possible to jail me,” the boxing ambassador alleged

The wrestler turned boxer, however, called on his fans and admirers not to relent in their support and wish him good luck as he battles corrupt forces in his quest to rewrite boxing history in the forthcoming Guinness Book of World Record Boxing Championship where he is gunning to become the oldest man to win world title.

The historic fight had received the blessing and support of President Muhammadu Buhari with the Federal Government promised to provide enabling environment for the hosting of the fight in Nigeria.
