Bashiru-Kaka Succeeds Kumoye As NCGM Chairman, Unveils Four-Point Development Agenda

The newly elected Chairman of the Nigerian Community Greater Manchester (NCGM), Otunba Dele Bashiru-Kaka, has announced an ambitious institutional shift positioning diaspora-led development alongside global multilateral frameworks.

 

Bashiru-Kaka, who succeeded Otunba Abiola Kumoye in the position, disclosed this as his administration rolls out a comprehensive reform agenda aimed at driving continental advancement.

 

As part of the forward-looking vision, the new chairman pledged to align with the Nigeria-Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other development agencies to establish operational routes through which professionals in Manchester can actively channel investments, technological innovations and human capital into critical development programmes.

 

He stated that his administration would be anchored on a united leadership rooted in quality, inclusivity and a shared unity of purpose, emphasising that strict constitutional governance and absolute transparency would underpin these international institutional relationships.

 

According to him, the new NCGM development blueprint focuses on four core areas, beginning with global partnerships, under which the chairman plans a revitalised alignment with NiDCOM, the SDGs and other development agencies to implement sustainable demographic and structural projects.

The second focus area, youth and talent circulation, is aimed at transforming traditional brain drain into what he described as brain circulation, through the development of educational, career and mentorship pipelines for the next generation, in line with SDGs 4 and 8.

 

The third area, structured local welfare, is designed to upgrade the community’s internal safety nets to deliver respectful and dedicated care systems for elderly diaspora residents.

 

The fourth focus, institutional stewardship under SDG 16, is targeted at introducing open financial frameworks, audited performance metrics and direct community-feedback loops to ensure organisational accountability.
