The late Benin-Nigeria based Fearless defender of human rights and freedom fighter, Professor Maurice Fangnon who died on 5 May, 2022 has been buried in his village, Avegodui Fangnon Dodo Compound, Azove, Benin Republic today 5 June, 2022.
A statement released by the family of the deceased stated that the Secretary General of Centre for Defence of Human Rights and Democracy in Africa (CDHRDA) died at aged 75 in Lagos after a protracted illness.
He is survived by many children and grandchildren among whom is a Lagos-based Legal Practitioner, Barr. Femi Fangnon.
Professor Fangnon would be remembered for fighting injustice selflessly at no cost for the oppressed, brutalized, traumatized victimized and the cheated Nigerians, especially workers for the past four decade in Nigeris leading to his arrest and detention at Police Stations and even in Prison Custody.
The funeral activities of the late indefatigable injustice fighter according to the family included a Service of song/wake-keeping at his residence, James George Street, off Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos
Lying-In-State at Yaba Morgue and movement of body to his Country home, Benin Republic took place on Saturday, 4 June, 2022 while interment took place at Avegodui, Fangnon Dodo Compound, Azove, Benin Republic today.
