The Chief Executive Officer of BHM, Ayeni Adekunle, delivered the keynote address at the Lagos NIPR’s 34th Annual Public Relations Lecture held Thursday, September 21, 2023, at the MUSON Centre in Onikan, Lagos.

Under the overarching theme, “Innovation and Disruption: Unlocking Opportunities for PR Practice”, Ayeni discussed the rapid changes that the PR industry has undergone in recent years, how these changes are impacting the field of public relations, and how PR professionals can benefit from disruption and innovation.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Nigerian-born writer and former journalist said, “I look forward to sharing my insights, experiences, and perspectives on how innovation and adaptation are essential for navigating the dynamic world of public relations and delivering value to our stakeholders.”

Participants can expect to gain valuable insights about how technology and digital platforms play a role in contemporary PR strategies, strategies for PR professionals to adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing media landscape, exploration of creative storytelling techniques and innovative PR campaigns that engage audiences, and leveraging data analytics to assess the effectiveness of PR efforts and make wise decisions.

Ayeni, who founded BHM in 2006, has developed the company into one of Africa’s leading global communications companies.

BHM has consistently pushed the boundaries of innovation in public relations and was recently named by the Financial Times as one of the 100 fastest-growing companies in Africa.

In addition, BHM  received an astounding 15 nominations for the 2023 SABRE Awards EMEA and has been recognised as a finalist for the Africa PR Consultancy of the Year award for three years running by SABRE Awards EMEA.

With a career spanning over two decades, Ayeni has played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of the industry, using platforms like World PR Day, Africa PR Report, NECLive, and Plaqad to bring Africa into the global discourse while building out his company to become the first global communications services firm from Africa.

BHM has offices in Lagos, London, Edinburgh, Nairobi and Accra with plans to go live with a New York office shortly; and clients have included Heineken, Coca Cola, Coursera, MTN, Multichoice and The Macallan.

Ayeni has also been named the PR Practitioner of the Year twice by the Lagos state chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

Chairman of Lagos NIPR, Comfort  Obot Nwankwo notes that the Lagos PR week “is a flagship event designed to enable communication with practitioners in order to set agendas and deepen the relationship with key stakeholders in exciting ways.”
