Would the PDP ever survive its consistent crises and scandals in the eyes of the public? The Edo elections are fast approaching, and it’s either one blunder after another or deliberate miscalculations. Whatever the case, there is indeed big trouble ahead for the PDP.

The recent call for the resignation of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barrister Osarodion Ogie, has added fuel to the fire, raising serious questions about the legality and morality of his dual role as an appointee and the PDP’s deputy governorship candidate. This controversy, coupled with Governor Godwin Obaseki’s rumored plans to dissolve his state executive council, paints a picture of a party in crisis.

Legal and Moral Questions Surrounding the SSG

The heart of the controversy lies in whether Barrister Osarodion Ogie can legally and ethically maintain his position as SSG while pursuing his deputy governorship ambitions. Critics argue that as an appointee, Ogie should not be actively campaigning for an elective position. Such a drastic measure might provoke backlash from within the party and result in protest votes against Obaseki’s chosen candidate, Asue Ighodalo.
