A 32-year old man,Yonlonfun Missimabu Celestine has confessed that he actually bought University of Ibadan, degree certificate which enabled him to practice as a medical doctor for 11 years before he was arrested.
The fake medical practitioner scored himself 2.1 to indicate that he was a successful medical student who came out with good grade.
Celestine was among the suspects paraded on Monday by the Lagos Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni.
The father of two said with the certificate, he was able to acquire every other clearance from Medical Association and registered at the Corporate Affair Commission at Abuja.
Celestine who hails from Badagry, Lagos said he has practiced for those years adopting trial and error method, and was able to treat unsuspecting patients which sometime result in complication.
On how he got the certificate, the suspect said it was one of his friends that assisted him and the total money he gave him was N70,000.
However, more than a decade after, Celestine was arrested at Apapa area where he opened a clinic following a petition to the police by the residents who suspected him.
According to Police, due to perrenial loss of lives in his clinic, the residents who had suspected all along informed the police.
During the investigation, it was discovered that all the certificates he presented were all fake and he confessed to the forgery. The clinic was promptly sealed, while drugs and other hospital equipment found there were recovered as exhibits and taken to the command.
Owoseni said Celestine’s arrest was one of the collaboration between the police and members of the public who provided information to the police.
He said celestine will be charged to court at the end of investigation.
