A 14-year old boy has landed in trouble and may spend several years in prison after he was allegedly caught having sex with a 13-year old girl in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Anipupo Street, Oke-Ira area of Ogba, Lagos, where they reside.
The Police alleged that suspect to have lured the girl on 27th September, 2021, and engaged her in sex without her consent.
However, during the act, they were caught. The girl’s parents then went to the Police at Area G Command, Ogba and reported that the boy raped their daughter; he was subsequently arrested and detained at the Command for interrogation.
During interrogation at the Area G Command, he reportedly admitted to have slept with the girl as his girlfriend before they were caught in the act and he was arrested.
The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Supol Raji Akeem, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The defendant was ordered to be remanded in juvenile home while the Court, presided by the Magistrate, E. Kubeinje, ordered the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP while the matter was adjourned till a further date for the DPP’s report to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the defendant risks several years imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty for the alleged offence despite the fact that he is still a minor.
