A 15-year old boy has been charged before the Court in Lagos State for allegedly defiling a 12-year old girl by engaging her in sex romp and was caught in the act.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Akani Showunmi Street, Mafoluku, Oshodi area of Lagos, where they reside with their parents.
The boy may spend the rest of his life in prison custody going by the Lagos State Administration of Criminal Justice, which stipulates life imprisonment as punishment for defilement.
The boy was said to have lured the victim into an apartment, engaged her into the romp before they were caught by their neighbours, who then reported to the girl’s parents.
When the girl’s parents examined her private part, they discovered that it was full penetration and the boy has deflowered their daughter.
The angry parents went to the Police at Ikeja Division and reported that the boy defiled their daughter, who is still a minor.
The boy was subsequently arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over the conduct. While there, he reportedly admitted to have done so with girl’s consent because she was his girlfriend.
The Police found him culpable and thereafter charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
When he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea and he was remanded in Correctional Centre pending the outcome of DPP’s advice following a motion moved by the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubeinje, ordered his remand and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to DPP for advice since both the defendant and the victim are still minors.
The matter was adjourned till 28th June, 2022, for report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction for trial.
The names of the victim and defendant were withheld in line with the policy of P.M.EXPRESS because they are still minors.
