A16-year old boy has landed in trouble in Lagos State and may spend the rest of his life in custody after he was allegedly caught having sex with a 10-year old girl inside their school premises.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that already the boy has been arrested.
The incident happened at Lead College located at Satellite town area of Lagos State, where both were said to be students of the school where the alleged crime was committed.
The Police did not state the exact place inside the school premises where the sex romp took place before they were caught on 22nd June, 2022.
However, he was handed over to the Police in the area before the matter was transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation over the conduct.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable for luring the girl in the act and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
When he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea and was remanded in custody pending when the DPP’s report will be ready.
This followed after the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since both the defendant and victim were minors in the eyes of the law.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in juvenile centre pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
The names of the defendant and victim were withheld because they are still minors in line with the policy of P.M.EXPRESS. But it was also gathered that the boy will face prosecution if the DPP’s advice finds him culpable and recommends his trial for the alleged offence despite his age.
