Boy 17, Arrested For Having Sex With Girl, 16

A 17-year old boy who reportedly had sex with his secret lover, a 16-year old girl and deflowered in the process has landed in trouble after they were caught in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Yaba area  of Lagos where they reside and he allegedly committed the act.

It was gathered that the boy and the girl were having secret romance without the knowledge of their parents before they eventually had sex and they were caught. The parents of the girl did not take the matter lightly after they discovered that their daughter was no longer a virgin as they had hoped to give her out in marriage as one when she grew up after her education.
They went to the Police and reported that the boy had raped their under aged daughter and in the process she lost her virginity. The boy was arrested after the girl claimed that he got her confused before engaging her in the act.

After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and later charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for engaging the victim in a sex romp.
The prosecutor, Christopher John, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice because both the defendant and the victim were minors.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka, ordered the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice. The matter was adjourned pending the outcome of the DPP.

However, it was gathered that if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends that the defendant be tried for rape, the matter will be transferred to the High Court.
P.M.EXPRESS withheld the names of both the defendant and the victim because they were minors in line with the policy of the organization.
