A 17-year old boy, Chigozie Christopher, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly engaging a 9-year old girl in sex and molesting a 7-year old boy by penetrating his mouth and anus.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Onolaja Street, Bariga area of Lagos State, where they reside.
According to the Police, the suspect lured the victims and sexually abused them. The information leaked and the matter was reported to the Police at Bariga Division. He was then arrested and detained at the station for interrogation.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Yaba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
Count 1: That you, Chigozie Christopher “M” that in 2023 at Onolaja Stret, Bariga in the Yaba Magisterial District, did defiled the victim, 9 years old by having sexual intercourse with her through her vagina and thereby committed and offence contrary to and punishable under Section 137 Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT II: That you, Chigozie Christopher “M” that in 2023 at Onalaja street, Bariga in the aforementioned magisterial district, did penetrate the mouth and anus of a boy “M” 7 years old with your penis and thereby committed offence contrary and punishable under Section 261 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Thomas Nurudeen, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E. Nwaka, ordered his remand in the juvenile home pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
