A 17-year old boy (name withheld), who allegedly engaged his 12-year old lover in a sex romp in Lagos, has landed in trouble after they reportedly engaged in the act.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Oduroye Street, Ile-Epo area of Oke Odo, Lagos, where they reside.

It was gathered that the 17-year old suspect and the victim were lovers which led them to engage in sex romp. However, the act leaked and got to the knowledge of the victim’s parents. The parents, who did not take the act lightly, took the matter to the Police. They reported to the Police that the boy raped their daughter. The boy was subsequently arrested and detained at the Police Station for interrogation.

During interrogation, the boy admitted that he slept with the victim as his lover but never forced her into the act. The matter was transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for further investigation and he insisted that she was his lover.
However, the Police found the 17-year old boy culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for engaging the victim in sex which is statutory rape.
He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the offence. The Court granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum. The defendant was remanded in custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions. The matter was adjourned till 7th October, 2019.

The names of both the defendant and victim were withheld due to their ages in line with the policy of P.M.EXPRESS because they were still minors.
