MICHAEL AKINOLA

An 18-year old boy, Michael Sude, has landed in trouble for allegedly engaging his 14-year old lover in sex inside a tricycle parked along the street in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Sude, has been arrested and charged for defilement under the Criminal Laws of the State.

The incident happened on 21st August, 2023, at about 8pm at Sholuyi area of Gbagada, Lagos, where they reside.

According to the Police, he lured the victim into the tricycle and engaged her in the act. They were caught and the information got to the girl’s parents, who insisted that their daughter was raped by the Michael and that he took certain amount of money belonging to the girl’s mother from her, which was from the sales at her mother’s shop.

The matter was reported to the Police in the area and Michael was arrested. He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos Police Command for interrogation over the alleged conduct.

During interrogation, Michael told the Police that the victim was his lover and it was not the first time they were doing it before they were eventually caught and handed over to the Police in the area.

However, the Police found him culpable for defilement and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.

However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the matter.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was adjourned till 16th October, 2023, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be made available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
