Police operatives in Lagos have tracked and arrested an18-year old boy, Pelumi Oloyide, who allegedly lured and drugged a 15-year old girl in a hotel before raping her.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at an undisclosed hotel at Jakande Estate, Ejigbo, while the suspect resides at Uriel Adegbenro Street, Egan area of Igando, Lagos.
The suspect was said to have gone to the victim’s house at Ilepo area of Ejigbo to instal a prepaid meter but later took advantage of her when they went to get the code number of the meter at Jakande Estate, where he lured her into a hotel, drugged her drink and then raped her.
The girl slept off and when she woke up,
she discovered that she was raped. She then informed her parents about what
had happened to her.
The matter was reported to the
Police at Ejigbo Division and the DPO, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, ordered for
the arrest of the suspect. He was eventually tracked and arrested at
Igando.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted that he actually drugged and rape the victim but was done under the influence of drugs.He revealed that he takes 400mg of Tramodol everyday and his parents do not know.
He however, pleaded for forgiveness.
But the Police, not minding his pleading, are not relenting in prosecuting him because the offence was a serious one, which may attract several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment if tried and convicted by the Court.
When P.M.EXPRESS correspondent visited Ejigbo Police Station, the suspect was seen detained undergoing interrogation but the DPO was said to have gone to the scene of collapsed school building in the area.
However, Police sources said that he will be charged before the Court for the alleged offence.
