NNAMDI OKOLI

At a time some criminal elements wreaked havoc yesterday in Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s hometown, the entire state have been solemn with the government in collaboration with security agencies making concerted efforts to bring the criminals to Justice, one is taken aback by the awful twist by the media henchmen of Senator Ubah who have taken to every known space on the social media to publicize the crime throwing blames in a manner that suggests complicity to a crime that took away the life of a fellow Anambra citizen.

In a place where law enforcement is thorough and far reaching, these doomsday merchants should be in the police station telling the State all they know about this ugly incident. For a wannabe who thinks every crime committed in the state, even at the expense of people’s lives, confers some electoral advantage one is forced to call upon Security agencies to call him to order and for caution.

Gov. Soludo at the onset of his administration had engaged a multi-stakeholder approach in the fight against insecurity, part of which was his well celebrated visit to Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s constituency project launch wherein he (Ifeanyi) donated a few streetlights and security cameras for his Nnewi community alone. This was a symbolic gesture to tell Ndi Anambra that he (Soludo) is not ready to play politics with the security of lives and properties of Ndi Anambra.

Part of the measures put in place by the Governor includes but not limited to setting and equipping State Vigilante groups and a strike force of a joint security team who have recorded remarkable success across the State. But no, Ifeanyi Ubah must play politics and his core strategy is to drum up stories of how unsafe Anambra is and get his media villains to spread it far and wide as a measure of thoughtless advantage for his bound-to-fail ambition. This is not the spirit of Anambra and must be resisted.

The dead deserves some decent respect and those who are directly affected by their death should be given a huge dose of empathy. None of this is coming from the Ubah mobsters. At best, their empathy is smarmy and pretensive.

Like everyone expects, this high level criminality cannot go unpunished. As a State, Ndi Anambra are united against these dastardly act and will continue to encourage Governor Soludo to go after them like he has been doing, and bring all of them and their sponsors to Justice.
