Experienced Finnish coach Pasi Pihamaa has expressed interest in joining the football development structure of Buruj Football Club and Buruj Sports Academy, opening the door for a new international coaching and player-development collaboration between Finland and Nigeria.
Pihamaa comes with over 20 years of coaching experience and holds UEFA coaching qualifications. He has previously worked with top Finnish side HJK Helsinki in their youth setup, and was listed as Head Coach of HJK P21 for the 2026/27 season in HJK’s September 2026 publication.
The proposed collaboration will centre on the Buruj Player and Study Development Programme, with focus areas including youth player development, technical coaching, coach education, football methodology and international exposure for young Nigerian talents.
The Chief Executive Officer of Buruj Football Club and Buruj Sports Academy, Dr. Salaudeen Waheed Buruj, is expected to open discussions with Coach Pihamaa over his possible involvement in the academy’s football development programme.
If finalised, the partnership could create a vital bridge between Nigerian youth football and the Finnish football system, particularly in player education, coaching knowledge exchange and structured youth development.
Buruj FC and Sports Academy said the move aligns with its vision of providing its players with an international pathway through football and education.
