Smarting from their recent defeats in the hands of Sunshine Academy and Yaba Tech respectively, Buruj Sports  Academy thrashed Phoenix FC in another trial game played on Wednesday.
The match that was held at Gbagada Grassroots Sports Centre saw Buruj Boys concede an early goal in the sixth minute but promptly responded to score the equalising goal in the 11th minute off the boot of Fawaz Tijani.
Apparently charged to heed the technical crew urge to raise their game to stand the chance of making the new team being packaged for their next foreign outings, the Super Cup campaigners with a mix of new entrants raced to a lead courtesy of two quick goals from Ignatius Akuba and Victor Francis in the 55th and 66th minutes.
Phoenix reduced the deficit in the 75th minute but Buruj Boys took the game beyond them with two more fine goals through Abimbola Adedokun in the 82nd minute and Sampson Austine in the 87th minute to end the thrilling warm-up tie by 5-2.
The encounter was part of the management of the academy’s quest to raise a strong team for their next outings just as they announced recently that window of opportunity is still open for new players to come on board and register to be part of the team.
Aside from playing in organised tournaments across Europe, players that may distinguish themselves will be giving opportunity for trials with some European clubs where they can be trained and evolve towards becoming full fledge professionals.
The next foreign tour according to the management will take place next month while series of friendly and trials games will be organised for both the old and newly registered players.
