After finishing as runners-up in this year’s edition of the English Super Cup in Manchester as well as winning the challenge trophy of the Welsh International Super Cup in Cardiff, the contingent of Buruj Sports Academy are due back in Nigeria on Monday, August 12.
The players and officials who departed the shores of Nigeria on July 23 featured in the English Super Cup and Welsh Super Cup. Even though they could not realise their ambition of defending the titles they won in Manchester last year, the players gave their all and the future is still very bright for some of them.
This much was revealed by the CEO of the academy, Salaudeen Waheed, while reviewing the individual and collective performance of the team in the two tourneys organised by Team Tours Direct.
“We thank God for the trip. Though we couldn’t achieve the aim of emerging as overall champions, some of our players gave a good account of themselves and their future is very bright.”
“We are going back home to analyse everything that happened in the course of this trip and we will take the lessons into account as we look forward to many more in the future.”
“In the same vein, we thank some distinguished Nigerians and even those who are not our country men but who showed support for the trip. We can’t thank them enough. God will reward them bountifully. But they shouldn’t stop their support for us because we are not there yet. Many more are on the way” he posited.
Meanwhile, the management is already packaging another trip for September and registration of interested players has commenced in earnest.
