Mr. Sanwo-Olu defeated other contenders including the PDP flag bearer Mr. Jimi Agbaje and he will now take the reins from incumbent Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.
While reacting on the outcome of the elections, the CEO of Lagos based Academy, Salaudeen Waheed, disclosed that the emergence of Mr. Sanwo-Olu who is highly experienced in public service will surely take Lagos State to the next level of sociopolitical, economic and infrastructural development.
He also challenged the incoming governor to raise the bar in the area of sports and youths development so that Lagos can harness its enormous human potentials and use the sports industry to generate more jobs and improve social welfare.
“As stakeholders in human development through grassroots sports, we are very happy over the electoral victory of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu because from day one, we were part of his campaign team and we are grateful that God answered our prayers to give us the kind of person who Lagos needs at this juncture of its history,” he began.
“He is well experienced in the business of public service and we hope that he will use his wealth of experience to harness the potential of the teeming youths in Lagos State most especially in the area of grassroots sports development,” he concluded.
